Development of a Teaching Performance Assessment in Australia: What did we learn?

چکیده

Following increasing criticism of the variability in graduate teachers’ readiness to enter profession, Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) introduced a program accreditation requirement that all initial teacher education (ITE) providers must implement Performance Assessment (TPA) final year their programs. AITSL were not prescriptive how ITE meet standard which has resulted 12 TPAs being implemented across 42 providers. This paper outlines development implementation one endorsed TPA designed measure graduating teachers, whilst taking into consideration learnings from well-known our own experiences. With this earlier unfunded Australia have been approved through endorsement process, offers some insights meeting additional requirements raises longer-term considerations associated with implementing TPAs.
